Windows Server 2022 и Windows 11 are now supported.

Virus Scan:

The default settings of the virus scan task have been changed. The program now runs a scan by default while the computer is idle.

The performance of the Virus Scan task has been improved. If you restart your computer during a scan, Kaspersky Endpoint Security will pick up where it left off.

Background scan performance has been optimized for servers.

Firewall:

We have added the possibility to set an IP address range for Firewall packet rules. You can set an IPv4 or IPv6 address range, for instance, 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.100 or 12:34::2-12:34::99.

You can now specify DNS names for Firewall packet rules instead of IP addresses. Use DNS names for computers on the local network or internal services only. The Web Control component is designed for cloud services, e.g., Microsoft Azure, and other online services.

Web Control rule search has been improved. You can, in addition to a rule name, now use a URL or mask, user name, content category, or data type when searching for website access rules.

BitLocker management:

We have added the possibility to use an enhanced PIN when encrypting the disk with BitLocker. An enhanced PIN can now contain upper- and lowercase Latin characters, special characters and a space in addition to numbers.

We have added the possibility to pause BitLocker protection for operating system update or installation of service packs. You may need to restart your computer several times while updates are being installed. The user will need to pass BitLocker authentication after each reboot. To make sure that updates are installed properly, you can temporarily disable BitLocker authentication and enable it again after installation is complete.

We have added the possibility to set a validity period for a BitLocker encryption password or PIN. Once a password or PIN expires, Kaspersky Endpoint Security will ask the user to set a new one.

BadUSB Attack Prevention:

The default settings of BadUSB Attack Prevention have been updated. The use of an on-screen keyboard by default for authorization of USB devices is now allowed.

We have added the possibility to set up a maximum number of keyboard authorization attempts for BadUSB Attack Prevention. The USB device will be blocked for a while after a specified number of unsuccessful attempts to enter the authorization code.

User interface:

The user interface has been completely refreshed.

A possibility to hide the Monitoring section in the main application window via policy settings added.

I reproduced this using Windows Defender. It seems that saving the AV cache files in ProgramData is mostly responsible for the increase of used up System Restore space. So the first scan sees the largest increase and consecutive scans show less increase and less SYSTEM write operations.

Test using DisableLastAccess seem to indicate that growth and writes are higher when last access times are enabled. It also seems that not only are some folder access times not updates, but also some file access times. This needs more testing, though.

And then there is still the case where I saw AVP.exe write to scanned folders directly. This does not happen every time and I have to catch it again.

Apart from all that highest drive utilization seem to happen when AVP writes its tempio files. It would be interesting to see what happens if AVP would write all its temp files and preliminary cache files to appdata/local/temp or Windows/temp and only copy finished cache files over to ProgramData.

Reproduction steps: Start a scan, minimize AVPUI.

Actual result: Progress bar on Taskbar icon is not updated while AVPUI is minimized.

Expected Result: Progress bar keeps updating while minimized.

No idea if this even qualifies as a bug or not?!

Still a bit strange, because from my last installations I remember being asked about the license during the installation process. So I wonder how I could have started KES without activating the license?
